Strengthening Inter-agency Cooperation on Food Safety: Protecting Public Health and Sustainable Agricultural Development

On the afternoon of June 24, 2026, the Government, the Vietnam Farmers' Union, and the Vietnam Women's Union held a signing ceremony for a cooperation program on the advocacy, mobilization, and supervision of quality and safe production and trading of agricultural, forestry, and aquatic products. The program aims to enhance public health and sustainable development for the 2026-2030 period.

This event affirms the key role of socio-political organizations in mobilizing the public to participate in sustainable agricultural development. According to Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Vo Van Hung, during the 2021-2025 period, the program achieved significant results, helping millions of members gain access to knowledge about safe food production and replicating organic and circular agricultural models.

Deputy Prime Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra emphasized: 'Ensuring food safety is protecting the health of the people and the community, and also protecting the nation's vital agricultural economy.' The Deputy PM requested agencies to shift strongly from traditional advocacy mindsets to leading and accompanying farmers in building brands and 'passports' for agricultural products.

The new program sets specific targets by 2030, including 100% of food safety officials from the Unions receiving professional training. Simultaneously, 100% of households and cooperatives with participating members will commit to complying with food safety regulations, promoting a 'Community Supervision' movement to ensure green production standards and transparent traceability.

Prioritizing the application of science, technology, and digital transformation in food supply chain management will be a top priority. The Government affirms that public health is the primary metric for green growth goals and sustainable economic development in accordance with the 14th National Party Congress Resolution.
