Prosecution initiated for use of banned 6-benzylaminopurine in bean sprout production in Hung Yen

On June 19, the Hung Yen Provincial Police announced the formal prosecution of a bean sprout production facility in Hanh Lac Village, Nhu Quynh Commune, for violations of food safety regulations. The decision has been ratified by the People's Procuracy of Region 4.

The inspection conducted on May 27 revealed that the facility owned by Mr. D.T.Y (born 1971) had been using a solution containing 6-benzylaminopurine. This substance is a growth stimulant not permitted by the Ministry of Health for use in food production. Authorities documented that between May 23 and May 26, the facility supplied nearly 800 kg of contaminated bean sprouts to the market.

The case file has been transferred to the Investigative Police Agency of Hung Yen Province for further legal proceedings. This incident serves as a stern warning regarding the abuse of chemicals in food production.

Nhu Quynh Commune Police advise consumers to prioritize purchasing food from reputable sources with clear origins. Food production facilities must strictly adhere to food safety standards and refrain from using prohibited substances that pose risks to public health.
