Ministry of Health issues urgent directive regarding suspected food poisoning of nearly 50 people after eating chicken rice in Cam Ranh

On July 6, the Vietnam Food Administration (VFA) under the Ministry of Health issued a directive requiring relevant units to focus on investigating and handling a suspected food poisoning outbreak in Khanh Hoa Province.

According to authorities, the incident occurred on July 2 in Cam Ranh Ward, Khanh Hoa Province. Several customers began exhibiting acute symptoms such as severe abdominal pain, nausea, and diarrhea after consuming chicken rice at Quynh Nga restaurant. The patients were subsequently rushed to the Cam Ranh Regional General Hospital for urgent medical treatment.

In response, the VFA has ordered the Khanh Hoa Department of Health to concentrate all medical resources to ensure the health and safety of the victims. Simultaneously, authorities must urgently trace the source of ingredients, collect food and clinical samples for detailed laboratory testing, and identify the causative agent.

The VFA emphasized that any violations of food safety regulations must be strictly addressed in accordance with the law, and results should be publicly disclosed to warn the community. Furthermore, local authorities are tasked with reinforcing public awareness, ensuring that food service establishments strictly adhere to the 'three-step food inspection' process and maintain mandatory food sample retention.

The latest updates from the Khanh Hoa Department of Health indicate that the patients' conditions have stabilized, with most expected to be discharged next week. Monitoring of suspected cases remains ongoing to ensure no further complications arise.
