Ministry of Health Accelerates Finalization of Draft Law on Food Safety (Amended) Documentation

At the Ministry of Health, Deputy Minister Do Xuan Tuyen chaired a Drafting Committee meeting to review and finalize the policy dossier for the Law on Food Safety (amended) following the appraisal process by the Ministry of Justice.

Acting on the provided recommendations, the Drafting Committee has adjusted the policy content. Specifically, previous policies regarding investment incentives and the prevention of unauthorized substance use have been integrated or removed to streamline the legal framework and ensure consistency in state management.

A crucial highlight is the restructuring of policies to focus on supply chain management, digital transformation, and the rigorous control of street food and collective kitchens. The proposed management model establishes a unified central-to-local agency structure.

Director of the Vietnam Food Administration, Chu Quoc Thinh, stated that the current draft consists of 5 core policies: supply chain management, life-cycle supervision, acceleration of digital management, regulation of collective dining, and the finalization of the state management organizational structure.

Concluding the meeting, Deputy Minister Do Xuan Tuyen acknowledged the efforts of the Drafting Committee and urged an immediate incorporation of feedback to meet the submission timeline for Government approval. He emphasized that close coordination with related ministries—including Justice, Industry and Trade, Agriculture and Rural Development, and Science and Technology—is critical to ensuring the feasibility and synchronization of the Law in the current context.
