Chairman of Hanoi encourages officials to proactively propose and make decisions for the common good
Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Vu Dai Thang affirmed that the city will encourage officials to proactively propose and decide within their authority to resolve difficulties and promote development.
On the afternoon of July 15, 2026, at the closing session of the 5th meeting of the Hanoi People's Council, Chairman of the City People's Committee Vu Dai Thang emphasized the administration's commitment to concretizing public welfare solutions into detailed action plans. Accordingly, the city will clearly define the timelines and responsibilities of each unit, while implementing regular inspections and oversight.
Chairman Vu Dai Thang frankly acknowledged that the results achieved by the capital still do not match its potential and the resources entrusted by the Central Government. Many key projects remain behind schedule in preparation and land clearance, while the efficient use of land resources in some localities remains limited.
Regarding urgent public issues such as traffic congestion, flooding, air pollution, and waste management, Mr. Thang affirmed that every effort would be focused on resolving them definitively. On behalf of the City People's Committee, he took full responsibility before the People's Council and voters for the existing shortcomings and limitations in direction and administrative coordination.
In the remainder of 2026, the city will prioritize removing bottlenecks in investment and infrastructure. For strategic projects such as urban railways, belt roads, and bridges crossing the Red River, a mechanism for direct field supervision will be maintained to resolve obstacles in a timely manner.
In addition to promoting administrative reform and digital transformation, the Chairman of Hanoi emphasized the message: 'Manifestations of avoidance, passing the buck, or failing to perform assigned responsibilities fully will be strictly disciplined.' Conversely, the city commits to creating a favorable environment, encouraging officials to proactively propose and decide on breakthrough plans for the common good of the capital.
