Hanoi Enhances Child Care Quality: Malnutrition Rate Drops to 6.4%
Hanoi achieves positive results in child healthcare, reducing the under-5 malnutrition rate to 6.4% while strengthening its comprehensive social welfare system.

According to reports from the Hanoi People's Committee, child protection and care efforts in the capital have yielded impressive results. The city is prioritizing the refinement of policies and resource allocation, integrating child-related objectives into broader socio-economic development, healthcare, education, and digital transformation programs.

A key health milestone is the reduction of the under-5 underweight malnutrition rate to 6.4%. Furthermore, 97.7% of infants under one year old are fully vaccinated, and 100% of children under six are provided with free health insurance cards. The city has also established a set of physical fitness and stature criteria for Hanoi students to guide high-quality human resource development policies.

To enhance pediatric medical care, the first phase of the Hanoi Children's Hospital with 300 beds is now operational, with plans underway to expand to 500 beds. Simultaneously, initiatives such as electronic health records and routine health screenings for children in disadvantaged areas are being widely implemented.

Regarding social welfare, Hanoi manages and supports 15,210 children in special circumstances with monthly subsidies totaling nearly 20 billion VND. Additionally, the city focuses on safety by organizing thousands of swimming classes and conducting risk assessments for potential child injury hazards, contributing to a safe and holistic development environment for children.
