A recent scientific study published in the journal Aging has revealed that incorporating yogurt into the daily diet, combined with lifestyle modifications, can effectively slow down the body's biological aging process. The research focused on the effects of diet and physical activity habits on men aged 50-74 over a three-month period.

To conduct the clinical trial, researchers monitored 48 overweight men in Japan. One group was required to follow a strict health regimen, including consuming 100 grams of plain yogurt daily, limiting portion sizes to prevent overeating, eliminating sugary beverages, and engaging in at least 30 minutes of walking, three days a week. The other group maintained their regular daily habits.

Researchers utilized a measurement tool known as DunedinPACE to analyze chemical changes in DNA, thereby determining the actual aging speed of cells rather than relying solely on chronological age. Results showed that the intervention group experienced a 2.2% reduction in biological aging speed, a statistically significant finding.

Notably, the slowed aging rate was independent of weight loss or changes in Body Mass Index (BMI). Researchers also observed improvements in specific DNA markers related to kidney function. While the results are clear, the authors emphasize that these benefits likely arise from the synergistic effect of the diet, probiotics, and exercise rather than a single factor. However, given the limited sample size, further extensive studies are required to confirm the long-term sustainability of these benefits.
