Approval of the Project on promoting safe agricultural production and food business for 2026 - 2030

On January 16, 2026, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long signed Decision No. 110/QD-TTg, approving the project titled 'Propagating, mobilizing, and guiding farmers in the production and trading of safe agricultural products and food for public health in the 2026 - 2030 period'. The project's core objective is to enhance the role of the Farmers' Union in ensuring food safety while replicating high-quality agricultural production models.

By 2030, the project aims for 100% of OCOP agricultural products supported by the Farmers' Union to have full traceability. Technically, the program strives for over 95% of farming households engaged in production and trade to possess correct knowledge and practices regarding food safety, while supporting at least 3,000 professional Branch Associations and 18,000 professional Group Associations to apply safety standards.

Key tasks include intensifying the promotion of guidelines and legislation on food safety, integrated with building a culture of safe food consumption. The Farmers' Union will coordinate with functional agencies to publicly list violating establishments to create positive social pressure, contributing to the boycotting of unsafe products in the market.

Regarding technical solutions, the project focuses on guiding farmers to correctly follow procedures for using plant protection chemicals, fertilizers, and veterinary drugs. The development of green and circular models, alongside high-tech applications such as VietGAP, 3F, IMTA, and Aquaponics, will be prioritized. Farmers will particularly be supported in accessing GMP and GHP processes, as well as SPS measures to improve competitiveness.

Finally, the program emphasizes digital transformation in agriculture, guiding farmers in using information technology and smart devices to manage planting area codes, breeding farm codes, and traceability QR codes. This is a strategic move to connect safe food supply chains and modernize agricultural production mindset in Vietnam.
