Golden criteria for parents in selecting high-quality nutritional products for children

According to the report 'Vietnam's Infant Formula Market: Trends and Growth Opportunities for Brands 2026' by Metric, the infant formula sector is witnessing significant growth. This trend reflects parents' increasing focus on early childhood nutrition as a foundation for long-term development.

Unlike common consumer goods, choosing pediatric nutrition is a decision rooted in trust and brand reputation. Today's parents frequently consult multiple sources, including healthcare professionals, parent communities, and personal experiences, before making a long-term commitment to a product.

Nutritional standards for children are becoming increasingly rigorous. In Europe, nutritional products must comply with strict regulations from the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), focusing on nutrient content suited to physiological needs and ingredients scientifically proven to be safe. Olivier Robin, Quality Director at the Nestlé Research and Development Center (Switzerland), emphasized that nutrients absorbed in early life directly influence a child's brain development and immune system.

In Vietnam, such products must also meet strict regulatory requirements for nutritional composition, including protein, fat, vitamin, and mineral levels. Companies are required to provide comprehensive scientific dossiers to validate product claims before market release.

Behind every can of formula lies a multi-layered quality control process. At Nestlé, each product must pass over 1,200 rigorous quality inspection metrics. The quality approval department operates independently from the production line to ensure objectivity and consistency.

Beyond quality control, Nestlé maintains a global network of 22 research centers with over 4,000 experts. Radia Saddiki, Global Category Lead for Infant Formula at Nestlé, emphasized their 155-year commitment to providing science-led nutritional solutions, bringing Swiss quality closer to Vietnamese families.
