Ho Chi Minh City implements 'Responsible Green Tick' model in school kitchens to ensure food safety

The first meals managed under the 'Responsible Green Tick' model in Ho Chi Minh City were officially served at Phu My Kindergarten, Tan My Ward. This marks a significant step toward tightening food safety management in school cafeterias.

On July 9, the People's Committee of Tan My Ward, in collaboration with the HCMC Department of Industry and Trade, announced the implementation of this model. The core goal is to control food safety from the beginning of the supply chain, ensuring nutritional quality for students through strict traceability.

Under this model, all input ingredients must meet 'Responsible Green Tick' certification. The entire process, from transportation and distribution to preparation, is digitally managed. Parents can act as supervisors by scanning QR codes placed on each meal portion.

Mr. Nguyen Truong Giang, Vice Chairman of the Tan My Ward People's Committee, emphasized: 'The green tick represents transparency. Every stakeholder, from suppliers and processors to schools, must be accountable for the origin and quality of the meals.' Following Phu My Kindergarten, the model will be expanded to other schools in the city.

Mr. Nguyen Nguyen Phuong, Deputy Director of the HCMC Department of Industry and Trade, stated that this model not only gives consumers more confidence but also encourages businesses to voluntarily enhance their responsibility toward product quality. Currently, over 449 suppliers and 5,460 products have been approved under the 'Responsible Green Tick' standard and are circulating within the distribution network.
