On the morning of July 29, at the Ministry of Health headquarters, Associate Professor Nguyen Tri Thuc, Deputy Minister of Health, met with a delegation from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) led by Mr. Mark Abdoo, Deputy Commissioner for Global Policy and Strategy.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Tri Thuc highly appreciated the FDA's expansion plan in Southeast Asia through the establishment of an FDA office in Hanoi. This move demonstrates the US Government's recognition of Vietnam's role in the global supply chain and opens opportunities for professional cooperation between the two nations.

The Ministry of Health of Vietnam is focusing on perfecting institutions and modernizing management practices in line with international standards. In particular, the Ministry is striving to elevate the Drug Administration of Vietnam to Maturity Level 4 (ML4) according to the World Health Organization (WHO) framework.

Mr. Mark Abdoo, representing the FDA, stated that choosing Hanoi as the location for the East Asia office confirms Vietnam's prominent position within ASEAN regarding management capacity. The FDA is committed to supporting Vietnam in modernizing its regulatory systems and sharing advanced health management experiences.

The parties discussed in-depth new areas of cooperation, including food traceability, electronic certification, whole-genome sequencing, and management data sharing. These initiatives are expected to strengthen the Vietnam-US Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, ensuring supply chain safety and public health.
