Authorities investigate foreign tourist's claim of moldy juice at Nha Trang establishment
Nha Trang police have summoned relevant parties to investigate a foreign tourist's claim regarding a beverage served at a local establishment suspected of being moldy.
On September 22, the Nha Trang Ward Police (Khanh Hoa) issued summons for relevant individuals to verify a complaint filed by a foreign tourist regarding the quality of a beverage at a local juice shop. The incident gained significant attention after a clip documenting the dispute between the shop owner and the customer circulated widely across travel forums.
Mr. Tue Van, the 37-year-old shop owner, confirmed he had received the summons from the authorities. According to his account, the event occurred on the evening of September 14 when the customer purchased a beetroot juice for 39,000 VND. After consuming approximately half the drink, the customer claimed it showed signs of mold, requested a refund, and subsequently left a 1-star review on Google Maps.
The owner maintained that he had clearly explained to the customer that the foam visible on the surface was a natural characteristic of fresh vegetable juices, rather than spoilage or mold. As the parties failed to reach a consensus, the tourist departed. The matter is currently under official review by the authorities to ensure a transparent resolution for all involved.
