Hanoi digitizes school meal management through the HanoiCheck system

The Hanoi Department of Science and Technology has officially launched the portal for the School Nutrition and Food Safety Database System (HanoiCheck) at https://dangky.hanoicheck.com.vn. This is a significant move to increase transparency in the food supply process for over 1.18 million boarding students across the city.

Under new regulations from the Hanoi People's Committee, educational institutions no longer directly sign contracts with food suppliers. Instead, ward and commune People's Committees are responsible for receiving applications, evaluating capacities, and selecting entities that meet established standards. The HanoiCheck system serves as a centralized digital platform to conduct the entire process of receiving, appraising, and managing suppliers transparently.

The application of AI and digital transformation helps standardize nutrition databases, supports food traceability, and strictly controls food safety. Businesses and cooperatives can register accounts, declare legal information, and track application statuses online, completely replacing traditional paper-based record-keeping methods.

The HanoiCheck system includes five core components: electronic student nutrition profiles, food supplier management, food safety control via QR codes and digital signatures, a monitoring application for parents, and a real-time Dashboard for regulatory agencies. The integration of AI cameras in 30 pilot schools also allows for close monitoring of the food preparation process in kitchens.

Through a dedicated application for parents, guardians can directly participate in monitoring menus, nutritional composition, and raw material origins. This marks a significant shift from manual management to data-driven governance, aimed at ensuring that school meals meet safety, scientific, and transparent standards.
