Deputy Prime Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra appointed as Head of the Central Inter-agency Steering Committee for Food Safety
The Prime Minister has signed a decision to consolidate the leadership of the Central Inter-agency Steering Committee for Food Safety, appointing Deputy PM Pham Thi Thanh Tra as its head.
The Prime Minister has officially issued Decision No. 1261/QD-TTg dated July 11, 2026, regarding the consolidation of the Central Inter-agency Steering Committee for Food Safety. Under this decision, Deputy Prime Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra has been appointed as the Head of the Steering Committee, replacing previous regulations to enhance state management effectiveness in the field of food safety and hygiene.
The organizational structure of the Steering Committee is reinforced with three Deputy Heads, including: Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan (Permanent Deputy Head), Minister of Agriculture and Environment Trinh Viet Hung, and Minister of Industry and Trade Le Manh Hung. Furthermore, the list of members also includes representatives from various critical agencies such as the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Science and Technology, and other socio-political organizations.
This decision takes effect from July 11, 2026, replacing previous consolidation decisions No. 920/QD-TTg and No. 1950/QD-TTg. The Steering Committee plays a strategic advisory role to the Prime Minister in resolving inter-agency issues, proposing timely measures for complex food safety developments, and coordinating cooperation between Ministries and agencies to protect public health and manage sustainable food supply chains.
