Starting in 2026-2027, Hanoi parents to monitor school meals via the HanoiCheck application
Hanoi launches the HanoiCheck system to digitize school nutrition and food safety management across 3,202 schools, enabling direct monitoring by parents.
The school nutrition and food safety database system, HanoiCheck, was officially launched by the Hanoi People's Committee on the afternoon of July 28. This represents a critical milestone in the comprehensive digitalization of school meal management, aimed at enhancing nutritional quality and strictly regulating food safety for over 1.18 million boarding students in the 2026-2027 academic year.
According to Cu Ngoc Trang, Director of the Hanoi Department of Science and Technology, there are 3,621 educational institutions citywide, with 3,202 schools providing boarding meals (accounting for 88.4%). Previously, management faced several challenges, including inconsistent facility conditions, non-uniform supplier selection criteria, and the absence of a centralized database.
The HanoiCheck system was developed in accordance with Resolution No. 72-NQ/TW of the Politburo, through a collaboration between the Department of Science and Technology, the Department of Education and Training, and the Department of Health. It comprises five key components: electronic nutritional records, supplier management and traceability, digital food safety control using digital signatures, QR codes and AI cameras, a mobile app for parents, and a real-time command dashboard.
A standout feature of HanoiCheck is its focus on transparency. Parents can directly access menus, food origins, and their children's nutritional status via the mobile app. Furthermore, the integration of AI camera technology in kitchens allows authorities to monitor the preparation process visually and effectively.
Tran Luu Hoa, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, stated that the system will be implemented in 100% of boarding schools during the 2026-2027 academic year. Schools are mandated to develop and publish menus on the system according to standardized nutritional requirements. Training and process refinement are currently being accelerated to ensure synchronization, transparency, and safety from the start of the new academic year.
In the coming period, Hanoi will continue to refine operational mechanisms and expand data connectivity with the city's digital platforms, contributing to the creation of a modern, sustainable ecosystem for school food safety management.
