Hanoi Digitizes School Food Safety Management with HanoiCheck System
Hanoi launches the HanoiCheck system to digitize school meal management, enhancing transparency and school food safety through AI technology.

The Hanoi School Nutrition and Food Safety Database (HanoiCheck) has been unveiled by the Department of Science and Technology as one of the five key tasks in the city's 100-day digital transformation acceleration campaign. It is expected to be a breakthrough in digitizing boarding meal management, creating a multi-party monitoring mechanism involving regulators, schools, and parents starting from the 2026-2027 academic year.

For years, traceability and monitoring of processing procedures in school kitchens have remained complex challenges. The HanoiCheck system is designed to overcome these bottlenecks by replacing traditional logbooks with a centralized data management process. Notably, parents will have access to an independent monitoring tool to verify daily menus and ingredient sources.

HanoiCheck operates as a comprehensive digital ecosystem consisting of 5 components: electronic nutritional profiles for each student, food traceability, digital control via digital signatures and QR codes, a parent interaction app, and a real-time management dashboard for authorities. Notably, AI camera technology will be piloted at 30 educational institutions to evaluate efficacy before city-wide implementation.

Estimates suggest the system will not only improve food safety efficiency but also potentially save between 350 and 575 billion VND in annual operational and social costs. The implementation roadmap will be strictly executed by the Department of Education and Training in coordination with the Department of Health, ranging from baseline assessments before July 2026 to finalizing official operational regulations by late August 2026.
The project's success requires close coordination between specialized departments and local communal authorities. With this system, Hanoi affirms its determination to protect future generations through sustainable technological solutions, ensuring that school meals are not only nutritionally complete but also meet the highest standards of transparent safety.
