Hanoi Tightens School Food Safety Through Digitization and AI Systems
Hanoi implements the HanoiCheck system and AI camera surveillance to strictly manage the origin of boarding meals in schools.
The Hanoi People's Committee has officially issued Official Dispatch No. 4316/UBND-KGVX, concretizing the implementation of the Prime Minister's Directive No. 33/CT-TTg on strengthening food safety (FS) in educational institutions.
To optimize control procedures, the city has launched the HanoiCheck system integrated with AI camera applications. Accordingly, the Department of Education and Training, in coordination with the Department of Health, requires schools to establish strict monitoring mechanisms from the raw material input phase to the serving of meals. Schools are responsible for transparently disclosing supplier information, daily menus, and food origins for parental oversight, while maintaining communication channels for feedback.
To enhance response capabilities, the education and health sectors plan to organize large-scale food poisoning response drills in the third quarter of 2026. Concurrently, the Department of Science and Technology will ensure the HanoiCheck platform is continuously updated with inspection data. Local authorities are tasked with tightening the contractor selection process, ensuring contracts are signed only with providers meeting all food safety standards. Any violations will be strictly penalized, including the immediate termination of contracts with non-compliant suppliers.
