Hanoi Strengthens Food Safety Inspection and Post-Market Surveillance for Mid-Autumn Festival 2026

The Hanoi People's Committee has issued Plan No. 307/KH-UBND dated August 7, 2026, directing departments, agencies, and local authorities to implement synchronized measures to ensure food safety during the 2026 Mid-Autumn Festival. This move aims to enhance state management effectiveness and protect consumer health against risks posed by substandard food products.

According to the plan, inspection and post-market surveillance will focus on production, processing, trading, and import facilities serving the seasonal market, particularly mooncakes, confectionery, alcohol, beer, beverages, as well as food additives and packaging materials in direct contact with food. These activities will take place from August 8 to September 30, 2026, across 126 wards and communes in Hanoi.

In addition to intensifying unscheduled inspections to detect and strictly handle violations, the city is placing special emphasis on public awareness campaigns. Relevant units are responsible for disseminating legal knowledge regarding production conditions, raw material origins, product disclosure processes, and the use of additives and flavorings for mooncake production and retail establishments.

At the local level, People's Committees of wards and communes are tasked with developing detailed plans, focusing inspections on key areas such as traditional markets, crowded streets, and seasonal food business locations. Competent authorities are required to disclose the results of inspections and post-market surveillance to increase transparency in food safety management.

Through this plan, Hanoi aims to strictly control the entire food supply chain for the festive season and prevent unsafe products from circulating in the market. Traceability and strict penalties for violations will be enforced decisively in accordance with current legal regulations.
