Over 600 entities register for school meal supply in Hanoi via HanoiCheck system
Hanoi launches the digital HanoiCheck system to strictly manage the food supply chain and ensure safe school meals for students in the 2026-2027 academic year.
The Hanoi Department of Science and Technology stated that the 2026-2027 academic year marks a significant shift in the process of selecting and contracting school meal providers. Under the new protocol, commune and ward People's Committees have been delegated the authority to receive applications, evaluate, and select qualified suppliers.
Between August 6 and August 10, 2026, the database system for nutrition and school food safety (HanoiCheck) received 20,370 applications from 607 food, raw material, and catering providers. Notably, on August 10 alone, the system recorded 7,848 applications, peaking at 1,515 applications in a single hour.
HanoiCheck consists of 5 core components: electronic student nutrition profiles, supplier management, traceability support, digital food safety control using digital signatures, QR codes, and AI cameras, as well as a real-time management dashboard. This transition from manual to data-driven management enhances transparency and strengthens control over every link in the supply chain.
Experts emphasize that beyond transparency in contractor selection, authorities must focus on regular post-audit inspections. Supplier performance must be assessed periodically; if a provider fails to meet food safety and nutritional standards, contracts must be terminated immediately to protect student health. This initiative aligns with the School Health Program for 2026-2035 approved by the Prime Minister.
