Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Council Huynh Thanh Nhan inspects food safety management in Vung Tau Ward

On August 11, the Supervisory Delegation of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council, led by Mr. Huynh Thanh Nhan, Vice Chairman of the Council, conducted an inspection of food safety management in Vung Tau Ward.

Prior to the formal meeting, the delegation inspected food safety conditions at Xom Luoi market and the kitchen area of the Rex Hotel. At Xom Luoi market, authorities reviewed 33 seafood businesses and noted compliance with business registration regulations.

Reporting to the delegation, representatives of Vung Tau Ward emphasized that since the beginning of 2026, food safety has been a top priority for protecting public health. The ward has implemented synchronized post-inspection measures for food services, street food, collective kitchens, and school canteens.

Regarding local governance, Vung Tau Ward requested that the HCMC People's Committee allocate funding, rapid testing equipment, and specialized vehicles to improve the efficiency of addressing violations. The ward also proposed that the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Department of Food Safety consider decentralizing the reception of food safety commitments to the commune level for small-scale producers not subject to full safety certification.

Mr. Huynh Thanh Nhan highly commended Vung Tau Ward's efforts and urged the locality to actively manage food-related activities on social media and incorporate food safety targets into annual socio-economic development plans. The delegation also called for increased professional training, improved response protocols for food poisoning in schools, and strict handling of violations regarding unauthorized poultry slaughter or poor-quality ice production.
